Amazon is taking steps to assure its customers who pre-ordered Google's new TV media streaming device that the shipments have not been delayed, as an earlier e-mail sent to shoppers indicated.

The e-mail, which went out to all customers who made pre-orders on the hugely popular $35 flash-drive sized device, indicated there would be a month long wait before people had the device in hand. A spokesperson for the Internet retail giant told the Wall Street Journal the e-mail was sent to customers with an "incorrect estimated order delivery of late October."

This release date, that is now known to be incorrect, put devices at people's doors October 30, much later than the anticipated mid-August date promised by the company. To fix the mistake, Amazon is sending out another round of e-mails with updated shipping information.

"We are actively fulfilling orders and all customers who placed orders prior to August 7 should receive their orders in the coming weeks," a spokesperson for the company said in an e-mail.

The device has users chomping at the bit as it promises to turn people's regular TVs into smart TVs. The device plugs directly into a set's HDMI port and connects to the home WiFi via the cloud. From there, users of iOS or Android mobile devices can stream their content and still be able to use their device. As of right now the Chormcast only has support for YouTube, Netflix and whatever is active in the Chrome browser. However, apps like HBO Go, Vimeo and Hulu Plus are reportedly working on apps to that will work with the Chormecast. Demand for the device is so high that Best Buy, Amazon and the Google Play Store all sold out just a few days after Google announced it at a press event. Luckily for those who opted to purchase the device through Amazon, the wait is almost over and won't extend into the Halloween season.
