It seems like déjà vu for current Chicago Bears defensive end Ray McDonald, as Damien Trujillo of NBCBayArea.com is reporting that McDonald has been arrested on a domestic violence charge.

"Former San Francisco 49er-turned-Chicago Bear Raymond McDonald has been arrested on a domestic violence charge, two San Jose police sources told NBC Bay Area on Monday.

"The sources confirmed that they assisted the arresting agency, Santa Clara police, with the detention."

McDonald was cleared by the NFL in late April of any wrongdoing in connection with a domestic violence arrest from last year while the defensive end was a member of the San Francisco 49ers.

"We have completed that [domestic-violence] investigation," NFL general counsel Jeff Pash said, via the Associated Press Sports Editors. ''[Special counsel for investigations] Lisa [Friel] and her team completed that investigation [and] did not establish a violation of the personal-conduct policy. We informed the player and the [NFL] Players Association.''

McDonald told Larry Hawley of WGNTv.com in late April, after he was cleared by the league, that he was attempting to move forward with his professional career, now as a member of the Bears.

"I had two incidents where I feel I didn't do anything wrong but still it's in the spotlight, it was in the national spotlight for quite sometime," said McDonald. "I'm just trying to move forward from it. I'm a Bear now and I'm just here try and help this team win football games."

McDonald was arrested in San Jose in August 2014 on suspicion of domestic violence, and then was named a suspect in a sexual assault investigation in December.

The 49ers parted ways with McDonald at the end of the 2014 season.

McDonald told Hawley in April that he expects to be under scrutiny now that he's back in an NFL uniform, but that he's ready to keep his nose clean and get back to work on the field under his former defensive coordinator in San Francisco, Vic Fangio.

"It's a fresh start. I learned a lot in my previous situations," said McDonald. "To keep my circle tight. You can't trust everybody because everybody doesn't have your best interest at heart. I'm just here now to play ball and try to help this team win ball games."
