Microsoft has rolled out new upgrades for Bing search on Windows Phone 8 giving it a smoother design and enhanced search features.

Microsoft has announced latest upgrades for its Bing app on Windows Phone 8, giving it a streamlined look and enhanced search features. The new features were already available on other platforms including Android and iOS, a few weeks ago. The latest upgrade will give the Windows Phone 8 users similar access to the app.

Microsoft has simplified the search page by merging the four tabs - Web, Local, Media, and Shopping- in the original version to just three - Web, Images, and Videos. The change will give users what they are looking for more easily, according to Bing product manager, Alisher Saydalikhodjayev. The elimination of the tabs from the original version will not upset many customers as they hardly might have noticed, or even known they existed, he added.

The new search filter brings the most relevant search results at one glance, eliminating the need to swipe left or right for videos and images listed separately. The first section of the search result will give the most relevant information followed by website results. For example, searching for a restaurant will bring up a tiny map view of the location followed by website results.

The new Bing will also include 10 instant answers. Users can get instant answers for topics related to traffic, flight status, exchange rates, word definitions and translations, and more, Michael Stroh wrote in the company's blog post.

In addition, the update includes infinite scrolling through images and videos, with larger auto-sized thumbnails. Also some tweaks make the search engine deliver results faster and use less of your data plan.

While the update is rolled out on a few Windows Phone 8 devices, others will get automatically updated in the coming weeks.
