Celine Dion chose family over her career nearly two years ago when husband Rene Angelil underwent throat surgery to remove a cancerous tumor. He's now "doing really well" and Dion is headed back to the stage in Las Vegas.

"It's not hard to take time off," the "My Heart Will Go On" singer told Entertainment Tonight. "It's not hard to be with him, obviously. It's not hard to be with the family and the kids. It's hard because life imposes things on you."

Dion praised her ailing husband's recovery, which still includes him going to treatments.

"I knew he was amazing," she said about the 73-year-old Angelil. "He's such a champ. He's working hard on that."

The 47-year-old singer postponed her Las Vegas residency in December 2013 to care for her Angelil. She announced in March that she would return to her Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace's Colosseum beginning Aug. 27 thanks to Angelil's support.

"[Rene's] strong," Dion said. "We're creating this show together. We make changes together. He wants me back. He wants me strong and this is what we're doing together."
