Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey may have called it quits on their six-year marriage last December, but that doesn't mean that they both have completely forgotten about what's far more important above all else - taking care of their two children.

The 34-year-old rapper and actor told PEOPLE that his and the 42-year-old songstress' status as friendly exes is solely for the sake of their four-year-old fraternal twins Munroe and Moroccan.

The "America's Got Talent" host also shared their secret to co-parenting: "Just staying focused and putting priorities in order. Being able to just step out and control whatever you can control, and the things that you can't, you just keep it moving."

The former married couple have even spent several holidays together as a family, with Cannon even taking to Instagram to post a Mother's Day greeting for Carey with the caption "I will forever be in debt to you for blessing me," referring to their children.

"At the end of the day, that's what it's all about. You celebrate one another and celebrate family - you take time out for those moments," he added.

Cannon is currently preparing for the new season of "America's Got Talent", while Carey is getting ready for her "Mariah to #1 Infinity" show in Las Vegas, having recently taken residency at Caesar's Palace.
