Cate Blanchett recently owned up to having "many" lesbian relationships in the past, although the actress doesn't want to label her sexuality in any way.

Blanchett admitted in a recent interview with Variety that she has more similarities with her character, Carol, in the 1950s lesbian love story than most viewers realize.

Like Carol, Blanchett had lesbian experiences "many times" but never really "came out" as one. Blanchett told Variety that she never really thought to label her sexuality, adding, "I don't think Carol thought about it" either.

Although she had some life experiences to rely on when getting into character, Blanchett admitted that she "read a lot of girl-on-girl books from the period."

Blanchett isn't the first celebrity to refuse to label her sexuality.

Last week Miley Cyrus opened up about her sexuality saying she wants to love whoever she wants without being labeled as straight, gay, bisexual or any other categorized term describing sexual preferences. Raven Symone is backing up Cyrus' statement, reminding everyone that she doesn't like to label her sexuality either.
