Barbara Tatge has been in search for the mystery man she kissed at the Boston Marathon this year, only to be contacted weeks after by the man's wife.

Tatge, who is from Tennessee, ran the Boston Marathon on April 20. The town of Wellesley has a marathon tradition, where the men try to steal a smootch from marathon runners, but Tatge's daughter dared her to flip tradition and kiss a random, good-looking stranger, according to Wicked Local Wellesley.

After the race, her daughter took to social media to try to find the man, who clearly left an impression on her mom.

When the search generated attention, Tatge received a letter from The Wellesley Townsman, a local news outlet.

"When this story aired on the news we were pretty surprised," the mystery man's wife wrote, according to CBS. "For me, I'm not mad. Believe me, our friends have gotten a lot of mileage out of this story and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching them give my husband grief!"

The wife - who also ran in the marathon that day - continued: "While this may not be the ending that you had hoped for, that spontaneous, silly moment in Wellesley captured the fun, energy and spirit of the Boston Marathon. I greatly admire your spunk and courage and wish you many happy races in the future. Congratulations on your Boston finish!"

The wife also made it clear that while it was all fun, they want to remain anonymous to the public.Tatge replied to the letter, apologizing and thanking the wife for her graciousness and good humor despite the incident.

Tatge will continue to run the Boston Marathon and said she will make sure she kisses single men next time.
