Justin Bieber appears to be "controlled" by his fans - or at least that's what Diplo is claiming.

Diplo, who recently collaborated with Bieber on the song "Where Are U Now," told Billboard that Bieber would likely be making music regularly with a similar sound to this song it it weren't for his "controlling" fans.

"It feels like he's always working against himself," Diplo told Billboard. "He's a cool guy and into cool music. But I think he's controlled by the way his fans are."

Instead, Diplo said Bieber only produces what he believes his fans want to hear.

"I feel like this song is what he should be," Diplo said. "Bieber's so talented, he needs to just be himself and be by himself and work on his craft. He has a lot of people around; he has to find the right team to help him make something that's going to stand alone."

While Bieber may not be changing his sound anytime soon, Diplo told Billboard he hopes to return the favor to Bieber and collaborate with him on a future album since "Where Are U Now" did so well.
