Cord cutting is not an easy service to acquire, since it requires intricate packages and balancing out deals with their companies in order to get the best possible rates. However, one company is trying to simplify the cord-cutting experience with its new package.

Cable provider Cablevision announced Thursday that it will provide special data and cable packages especially designed for cord cutters that will cost between $35 and $45 per month. These broadband Internet packages include "a digital antenna for free local broadcasting and access to WiFi hotspots in its service area of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and parts of Pennsylvania. With the new broadband offering, users can add HBO Now for $15 a month and additional streaming subscription services. By picking and choosing streaming services, the company said, consumers will be able to replace the cable television bundle of hundreds of channels," The Washington Post reported.

This series of cable/data packages is the latest that Cablevision has provided, especially for the cord cutter crowd. The cable company was actually the first to offer HBO NOW to broadband customers.

However, unlike other Cablevision packages, this one will give a user a wireless antenna. "Of course, Cablevision customers could have configured this setup for themselves before by dropping to a broadband-only package and buying their own antenna, but clearly the goal here is to simplify the process for those wishing to cut the cord as well as entice new customers with the promise of a free antenna," reported TechCrunch.

Cablevision isn't the first company to offer a cord-cutter centric cable package, though. Verizon launched a series of cable packages that allows consumers to purchase programming a la carte.

All of this is reflective of a larger trend in technology, where cable companies are doing what they can to serve the steadily growing cord cutter market.
