T-Mobile got the ball rolling by making smartphones and smartphone plans more affordable when it introduced a new plan, called "JUMP!," that allowed its customers to upgrade their smartphone after only one year as opposed to the industry standard two years. Big names like Verizon Wireless and AT&T followed suit with similar plans in order to stay competitive. Now it seems T-Mobile is out to change up the game even more with its latest summer offer.

Consumers will be able to pick up an Apple iPhone or a Samsung Galaxy S4 through T-Mobile without putting a single cent down. Starting on Saturday, the carrier's new summer promotion will offer a variety of 4G LTE smartphones, tablets and mobile hot spots with no upfront cost. No, it isn't free, instead people will simply pay a regular monthly fee to make payments on the device for the first 24 months.

For anyone interested to see what the cost of some of the more popular items being offered, you can check the list below. Some noteworthy spots are the Samsung Galaxy S4 which will have a payment plan of $25 added to the user's monthly bill. In addition to that there's an iPhone 5 for $27 a month and a Nokia Lumia 925 for $20 a month.

No expiration date on this offer has yet been announced by T-Mobile however the company has said it would be for a limited time only during the summer.

Although the offer looks tempting, CNET points out users are still paying pretty much the full retail price of the smartphones. An iPhone 5 at $27 over 24 months adds up to a total cost of $648. The retail price of the iPhone 5 is $649, with payments that come on top of the existing mobile plan, users are really only saving a dollar two years from now. It could be possible, like with the JUMP! plan, AT&T and Verizon Wireless will announce similar offers in the coming weeks. Only time will tell.
