Actress Rosamund Pike has been cast to play Amy Dunne in the movie "Gone Girl," Hollywood Crush reports. She will play opposite Ben Affleck, who was cast as Nick Dunne, in the film adaption of Gillian Flynn's New York Times best-selling novel.

The movie will focus on thirtysomething couple, Amy and Nick Dunne who move to Missouri after Nick loses his job in the struggling economy. While adjusting to the change, Amy suddenly goes missing on the couple's fifth wedding anniversary. To make things even worse, all clues point straight to Nick as the suspect.

The movie will be produced by Reese Witherspoon, Bruna Papandrea and Leslie Dixon. David Fincher will direct it with production set to begin in September. There were several other actresses up for the role of Mrs. Dunne including Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt, Natalie Portman and Amy Adams.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tyler Perry and Neil Patrick Harris are being considered for supporting roles but it's not certain which ones.

Ben Affleck was cast as Nick at the beginning of July. E! News reported that the "Argo" actor was spotted meeting with Fincher at Caffee Luxe in Brentwood. Affleck beat out other leading actors for the part including Henry Cavill, Peter Sarsgaard, Jake Gyllenhaal, Jeremy Renner and Ryan Gosling.

The book has been getting a lot of praise. The Washington Post said the book "draws you in and keeps you reading with the force of a pure but nasty addiction" and Entertainment Weekly said it is "an ingenious and viperish thriller - and that no matter how smart you think you are, it's going to bite you."
