Ben Affleck could be starring as Nick Dunn in the movie adaption of the New York Times best seller novel "Gone Girl" by Gillian Flynn. According to E! News, Affleck is currently in negotiations with 20th Century Fox and New Regency to star as the lead in the flick.  

The "Argo" actor was spotted having a meeting with David Fincher, who will be producing the movie, at Caffee Luxxe in Brentwood on Tuesday. This is huge news for "Gone Girls" fans. The movie is reportedly set to begin shooting in the fall so the female lead role of Amy Dunne could be cast soon as well.

There have been several names mentioned to play Mrs. Dunne including Amy Adams, Chalrlize Theron, Rachel McAdmas, Claire Danes, Gwyneth Paltrow, Elizabeth Banks and Kate Hudson. According to The Wrap, producers are leaning towards Natalie Portman, Charlize Theron and Emily Blunt.

For those who are not familiar with the book, "Gone Girl" focuses on the couple Nick and Amy Dunne and their complicated relationship. Nick, 34, was a successful magazine journalist until he lost his job due to the recession. Nick and Amy decide to move to Missouri where Nick opens a bar with his sister. Things get complicated and strange after Nick's wife suddenly disappears on their fifth wedding anniversary. To make things worse, all clues to Amy's disappearance point to Nick.

The movie will be produced by Resse Witherspoon, Bruna Papandrea and Leslie Dixon. According to Deadline, Flynn wrote the original screenplay but is currently rewriting it with Fincher.

No release date has been announced yet but the film is scheduled to begin shooting in the fall. The book has gotten rave reviews and even made the New York Times Best Sellers list.

The Washington Post said the book "draws you in and keeps you reading with the force of a pure but nasty addiction."
