Google finally unveiled the long anticipated Android 4.3 Jelly Bean at its press event on Wednesday. While it isn't a big enough upgrade to merit its own press event, like fans will likely see with the release of Android 5.0, Key Lime Pie, that doesn't mean Google fans won't be clamoring to get their hands on it when it releases for the new Nexus 7 tablet.

Google, during its special press event in San Francisco, announced the newly updated Nexus 7 will be shipping with Android 4.3 before anyone else. Older Google Nexus models will receive the software sometime soon.

Hugo Barra, vice president of Android product management told the crowd the original Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 tablets, as well as Google's Nexus 4 and Galaxy Nexus smartphones will get the upgrade over the air. Meanwhile, he had no real answers for when the Google Play editions of the Galaxy S4 and HTC One will get the software other than saying "soon."

Unfortuntetly for people who recently purchased either the Galaxy S4 or HTC One, wireless operators will likely have to wait a while for the new upgrades as the company has not yet expressed when other Android-powered devices will get the software.

Considering the minor nature of the changes, these users can afford to wait. The Android 4.3 upgrade is still a member of the Android Jelly bean family. The latest version consists of minor tweaks rather than a big overhaul including minor additions to the software like Multi-User Restricted profiles, Bluetooth Smart technology and greater graphics capabilities from Open GLES 3.0 support, according to CNET.

Google seemed eager to promote the release of its Nexus 7. The Device is slightly thinner than its predecessor and includes a quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor, a 1.2 megapixel front-facing camera and 5-megapixel rear camera. It also features field communication technology, wireless technology and an HDMI output.
