DMX's attorney is setting the record straight after his client was accused of robbing a New Jersey man for a couple thousand bucks.

NJ.com reported previously reported the "Party Up" rapper and his entourage are being investigated for pointing a gun towards a 21-year-old unidentified man and demanding that he hand over his money. According to a statement from Newark police spokesman Sgt. Ronald Glover, the incident took place on Sunday at an Exxon gas station on McCarter Highway around 12:30 a.m.

"The two had a brief conversation about rap music and during the conversation a male in DMX's entourage showed the victim a gun and demanded the victim's money," Glover said in a statement about the group stealing $3,200 in cash from the victim and then driving off in in four black Cadillac Escalades.

Murray Richman, DMX's New York-based attorney, are blasting the rumors calling them "completely absurd, adding that "anyone who believes it makes no sense at all."

"He was leaving a show, a very successful show, and he stopped for gas," Richman said in a statement (via E! News). "Four young men approached him for a photo. They took photos and they offered [DMX] drugs. He said no and told them to go...They had an argument and next thing you know, they are accusing him of robbery. Just nonsense."

The hip-hop artist, whose real name is Earl Simmons, has not yet released a personal statement regarding the alleged incident. DMX had performed on Saturday night in Newark at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, prior to the incident.

"Jersey!!!!! Thank You!! For real Thank You!!!!!" DMX tweeted Saturday after the show.

ABC News 7 reported that Newark police are still investigating the alleged crime and have received a copy of the surveillance tape from the gas station. However, Richman told ABC News that "the allegations are unequivocally and utterly false," adding that "any videotape would be dispositive."

No charges have been filed at the time.
