Theia the bully breed mix is being called a "miracle dog" after amazingly coming back to life with high spirits after it was believed she was killed.

Theia, 1, was a stray dog in the streets of Washington when she got hit by a car. The driver believed she was just going to suffer until she died so he hit her over the head with a hammer and buried her in a nearby field, according to a Washington State University (WSU) news release.

As it turns out, the hammer to the head still didn't kill her and she emerged from her grave four days later.

Theia was brought to the WSU's Veterinary Teaching Hospital where she received treatment. She was awarded $700 for her treatment from the hospital's Good Samaritan Fund.

"Considering everything that she's been through, she's incredibly gentle and loving," Sara Mellado, who took the dog into her home after hearing about her plight on Facebook, said in the release. "She's a true miracle dog and she deserves a good life."

At Mellado's home Theia has two young human friends to hang out with.

Although Theia is recovering, she is still having some breathing issues that make it hard to sleep as a result of her condition.

Theia has a condition called nasopharyngeal stenosis - which means her nasal passages that restricts air flow into the lungs are constricted.

The veterinarians at WSU are planning a surgery for Theia that will make it more comfortable to live with this condition.

The money for the surgery was quickly raised by Mellado through a GoFundMe fundraiser that reached 650 donators.
