Mitchell's camp reports she is in "good spirits."

According to TMZ, paramedics arrived at Mitchell's home at 2:30 p.m. PT (5:30 p.m. EDT) on Tuesday after a 911 call was placed. The call was for an unconscious female, according to TMZ, but the 71-year-old singer-songwriter was alert in the ambulance.

Mitchell's website posted confirmation of the hospitalization. "Joni has been hospitalized. We are awaiting official word on her condition and will post it here as soon as we know," the website promises. A Twitter update was also added to Mitchell's account.

Leslie Stojsic, a television news producer with CBC, Tweeted news that disputes the initial report that Mitchell was found unconscious. "Source tells me she's in hospital recovering after 'minor medical emergency,' was *not* found unconscious," the Tweet reads.

Stojsic added a second Tweet, saying: "I'm told now she's resting in hospital and is among friends. A good sign."

HNGN will have more on this story as information about Mitchell's condition becomes available.

The Canadian-born Mitchell is known for her own hits like "Big Yellow Taxi," "Help Me" and "Free Man in Paris." Mitchell became synonymous with Woodstock after Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young recorded her song "Woodstock," about the 1969 music festival. Mitchell was never at Woodstock, though. She heard all the tales about the peace, love and victory from her then-boyfriend, Graham Nash, as her manager thought an appearance on "The Dick Cavett Show" would be more advantageous to her career.
