After Imgur user Numbersnut's dog died, he decided to finally commit to becoming a foster doggy daddy at a local animal rescue. He had no idea that this decision was going to change his life forever.

When Numbersnut signed up he was initially hoping to be on a waiting list for a while so he would have extra time to heal from the loss of his best friend, except at this particular rescue there was no list. He was interviewed and given his first foster dog, a chihuahua and dachshund mix, who was "particularly yippy."

Not long after his first foster dog arrived, Numbersnut was notified by the animal shelter that two more dogs also needed foster care. The dogs, which were both hounds, were "at risk" so Numbersnut couldn't help but take them in as well.

Numbersnut wrote that both hounds were malnourished, covered in ticks, had infections in their wounds after being neutered and had sores on their hips and elbows from spending so much time outside on concrete.

"I had gone from my dog, to no dog, to a dog, to all these dogs; all in a very short period of time," Numbersnut wrote on Imgur.

After the chihuahua had some time to adjust to the hounds in the house they became best friends. The hounds even helped the chihuahua become less "yippy," which helped him find his forever family.

"I couldn't save my dog, but I helped save this dog," Numbersnut wrote.

It's hard to say goodbye to the dogs, but Numbersnut is happy that he is able to help three to four rescues get prepared for their forever homes!
