Jerry Seinfeld bashed New York Mets fans for booing during the 2013 All-Star Game player introductions at Citi Field.  The comedian and longtime Mets fan felt embarrassed by the crowd's behavior during Tuesday's game, NY Daily News reports.

The boos and jeers from the Citi Field crowd were shameful and disrespectful, according to Seinfeld.

"This is one of the lowest moments of my lifetime of Mets fandom, when the Citi Field crowd was booing (players) that they see as rivals to their Mets team," Seinfeld told Steve Somers on WFAN-AM Wednesday.  "And I'm standing there, I was in shock.  I was embarrassed.  I thought it was horrible manners.

"These are the best players, in the game you love, that have come here to put on a show for you, and we're booing them like 5-year-olds.  As if there's some sort of real animosity... The American League is not the Taliban.  What are we booing Miguel Cabrera (for)? ... So I was very embarrassed by that."

Seinfeld has always been a diehard Mets fan, and he owns a luxury suite at Citi Field, according to Yahoo! Sports.  He once even joined Mets announcers Gary Cohen and Keith Hernandez in the box during a game in June 2010.

During his cameo as an announcer, he described why he's a Mets fan: "I still enjoy the personality of the club.  I don't think there's anything more fun than being a Mets fan.  They have two world championships... The team always has personality."

One moment Seinfeld did enjoy during the All-Star game was the way the fans bid New York Yankees pitcher Mariano Rivera good-bye after 19 seasons.

"I felt redeemed by the reception that we gave Mariano Rivera and that brilliantly staged farewell."
