A 58-year-old dad from Michigan thought that he was having a stroke after eating his daughter's brownies. The man was unaware that the brownies' contain marijuana.

According to the initial investigation of the Oakland Country Sheriff's Office, the 17-year-old daughter admitted of baking the pot brownies on Wednesday night. Police collected some samples of the remaining brownies for lab analysis. The dad was immediately rushed to St. Joseph's Hospital in Pontiac, Mich., USA Today reported.

The teen got the pot from her friend and used it to bake the brownies.

"She put them in the kitchen but didn't expect anyone to eat them," Oakland County Undersheriff Mike McCabe told WDIV Detroit.

The names of the dad and daughter were kept confidential. The police have not determined yet whether to press charges against the minor, but since the samples tested positive of marijuana, the girl could be in trouble. It is illegal in Michigan to process, manufacture, and distribute marijuana resin or marijuana oil, which is used to make pot brownies.

"If it comes back as marijuana or something else, it's going to the prosecutor. She's 17 and an adult in the eyes of the law," said McCabe. "She's not going to get it light, no. This will be a lesson for her and everybody else."

A Maryland teen faced criminal charges in December of last year after giving her teacher some pot brownies. Maryland police said the teen was processed at a juvenile detention center for administering and distributing marijuana, reckless endangerment and second degree assault. A parental guardian was able to have the boy released into their custody.

This latest incident brings edible marijuana back to the spotlight. Health experts have previously warned that these treats are putting people at risk of overdose. Other common edibles are cookies, muffins, cakes, candy, and butter. Most of these products are prepared using resin or oil from marijuana flowers and leaves.
