Apple's iPhone releasing patterns have stuck to the tendency of just announcing one or two new versions of Apple's smartphone. However, recent rumors point to the potential of Apple revealing three iPhones in 2015.

Unnamed sources revealed to the press that Apple is reportedly planning to release both the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus, which will be significantly bigger than their predecessors. But users should also expect to see the iPhone 6C come out as well, reports Digitimes. The iPhone 6C will reportedly be four inches long and be manufactured by Wistron. In contrast, the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus will both be manufactured by Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) and Pegatron. All three devices will "come equipped with LTPS panels and supply for the iPhone 6S Plus and iPhone 6C will come from Japan Display, Sharp and LG Display while that for the iPhone 6S will come from Japan Display and LG," according to Digitimes.

The 6S and 6C series of phones will also use Gorilla Glass as a display and A9/6C A8 chips to power the devices. They'll also have NFC chips built in, which will let phone users use Apple Pay.

While releasing a 6C makes some sense since it's continuing a new phone trend, it isn't clear that it would necessarily be helpful financially. The release of the 5C was originally designed to help introduce Apple's products to China. However, the Chinese had no interest in a cheap copy of the iPhone and bought more iPhone 5S units than 5C units.

News.com.au also notes that "Some dismiss the iPhone 5C as Apple's one failure with an iPhone, with much of the criticism aimed at the phone focusing on the flawed perception that C would stand for 'cheap' and Apple does not do cheap. "

Earlier rumors revealed that the next iPhone will receive Force Touch technology, as well as an upgraded two-lens camera system.
