When Microsoft announced its new augmented reality glasses, it opened doors to using augmented reality as a way to engage with the world. But what would that mean for your gaming or personal life? While some have experimented and played around with the technology, one company has excelled in developing unique immersive environments.

Magic Leap has been developing augmented reality technology for a while, specifically focusing on interactive displays that would let users interact with the digital world in a way that no one else has, according to The Verge. And its latest video definitely feels that way. The one- and-a-half-minute- long minute video, which was developed in tandem with New Zealand's special effects house Weta Workshop, displays the potential of augmented reality technology. It shows a user interacting with basic applications, like Gmail and Youtube. But then things get heated up. The user decides to play a steampunk-themed shooter in his own office. He picks up a gun, decides which one fits his style, fights off some baddies, lays down some turrets and wreaks all kinds of mayhem. It's an impressive video to behold, and you can watch it below:

The video was posted with an apology from Magic Leap CEO Rony Abozitz, who was supposed to appear at TED 2015 in Vancouver to display Magic Leap's new tech.

But is this video a portrayal of a real product? "The company isn't saying whether the video above is pure concept, or an example of live software running on its platform (the involvement of Weta tends to suggest the former), but it did confirm.....that it is the source of the YouTube upload," Techcrunch reports.

Magic Leap is currently receiving funding from Google, Legendary Entertainment and many other companies who believe it could provide the next level of virtual reality-based entertainment.
