A significant portion of the internet agrees: Microsoft's Internet Explorer is terrible. The web browser is constantly the butt of tech jokes on the internet, and was once called the "worst tech product on the planet."

Well, have no fear; Microsoft is (kinda) replacing Internet Explorer. Microsoft Marketing Chief Chris Capposela revealed his plans to nullify Internet Explorer so that the company can bring in a new browser.

"We're now researching what the new brand, or the new name, for our browser should be in Windows 10. We'll continue to have Internet Explorer, but we'll also have a new browser called Project Spartan, which is codenamed Project Spartan. We have to name the thing," he said.

Microsoft isn't getting rid of Internet Explorer completely, according to The Verge. It will be keeping a version of the browser around for some businesses and enterprises. Project Spartan will become Window's default browser.

Microsoft has hinted at cancelling the Internet Explorer project before. Rumors originally began after Microsoft announced Project Spartan in January. However, the company has not revealed any details about what will make the browser special or different from Internet Explorer.

But what will the official name for Project Spartan be? It's unclear. Capposela showed off some results of Microsoft polling Google Chrome users about potential names, but he didn't provide the actual product names.

Microsoft has not announced Project Spartan's release date yet.
