Rumors about actors linked to the role of Green Lantern have been popping up like crazy recently. First, David Ramsey of "Arrow" and then actor/rapper Common were mentioned to be up for the John Stewart version of the character. Now, Umberto Gonzalez of Latino Review is reporting that Chris Pine ("Star Trek") is being considered for Hal Jordan/Green Lantern in the ever expanding DC Cinematic Universe.

"The name I keep hearing floating around, is Chris Pine for Hal Jordan. Yes, Captain Kirk," Gonzalez wrote in an Instagram post. "Again, this is still just a RUMOR hence UNCONFIRMED. Been hunting this one for a while so the search is still ongoing..."

Pine was initially considered by Warner Bros. when casting was underway for 2011's "Green Lantern." Ryan Reynolds ultimately won the part, though the movie was universally panned by critics and disappointed at the box office.

The next "Green Lantern" solo film is not scheduled until 2020, but the character is expected to play a big role in the "Justice League" series of films that will be released in a few years. As of now, it is still unknown whether the studio and DCCU shepherd Zack Snyder want to go with the Jordan or Stewart version of the character. But the superhero is the last member of the Justice League yet to be cast, with Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash and Cyborg already set to go.

"Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" will give fans their next glimpse of the DCCU. An appearance by Green Lantern will be expected soon after that.
