How you view this situation is likely dependent on how you view Marcus Mariota.

If you think he's just another college phenom destined to burn out and fade away as soon as he hits the NFL, then the Philadelphia Eagles resigning Mark Sanchez probably looks like a move to ensure a healthy training camp competition between Sanchez and incumbent starter Nick Foles.

The notion of Eagles coach Chip Kelly shopping Foles most likely seems about as ludicrous and farfetched as a Sanchez season without an interception.

If you think Mariota has the chance to become a special NFL player - the kind of well-rounded, dual-threat quarterback only Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks seems to truly be - then re-upping with Sanchez looks like a move for depth chart security and the idea of Kelly flipping Foles seems like not just a possibility, but a necessity.

No matter which camp you fall into, it's hard to ignore the possibilities for further intense and unexpected change for the Eagles in the wake of the DeSean Jackson, LeSean McCoy, Trent Cole, Cary Williams and Todd Herremans exits.

That change could continue with Foles.

Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com reported Monday that Kelly and the Eagles brain trust had already begun shopping Foles while at the Senior Bowl this year.

"With head coach Chip Kelly, the coaching staff and front office executives in Mobile, Ala. for the Senior Bowl in January, the team made an effort to gauge the value of Foles with other teams in the league," writes Shorr-Parks.

Again, the perceived veracity of such a report depends entirely on your personal quarterback preference. It seems plausible.

Which teams were interested, per the report?

"Three teams that were interested in Foles at the time, per a person with knowledge of the situation who requested anonymity, were the St. Louis Rams, Tennessee Titans and Houston Texans."

The Texans signed Brian Hoyer and Ryan Mallett today, so they're likely out of the running already.

The Rams are spending boatloads of cash on Sam Bradford and while that wouldn't necessarily preclude them from bringing in Foles, it's hard to envision them doing so unless they were planning on flipping Bradford.

The Titans are the most interesting team of the three.

They have a quarterback depth chart consisting of last year's sixth-round pick, Zach Mettenberger, and little else. They hold the second-overall pick in the first round of next April's 2015 NFL Draft, a selection that may look incredibly enticing to Kelly if he's truly got his heart set on Mariota.

Could there be a deal to be made between the Titans and Eagles involving that selection and Foles?

It's possible, but again, the legitimacy of such a scenario depends entirely on your view of Mariota and just how desperately Kelly needs or doesn't need him in order to succeed in the NFL.

One thing is certain though - Kelly is rebuilding this team in his image and the impending changes are not yet finished.
