Katie Couric has no plans to return to her former network and save the sinking ship that is "NBC Nightly News."

Couric took to her Twitter to deny reports that she had expressed interest in replacing Brian Williams as the anchor on the evening news program.

Couric joined "Today" in 1989 and became co-anchor in 1991. She stayed in that position and with NBC News until 2006. She then left to become the anchor of "CBS Evening News," the first solo female anchor for a nightly news program on one of the "big three" broadcast networks.

She currently serves as Global Anchor for Yahoo News.

Williams recently pulled himself from the desk after he admitted to lying about flying in an aircraft hit by a rocket-propelled grenade while reporting from Iraq in 2003. He appointed Lester Holt, who usually anchors the program on weekends, to take over in his absence, but plans to return.

NBC News has launched an internal investigation into Williams' reporting, including his Iraq story, coverage of Hurricane Katrina and other reports that have come under question. Richard Esposito, the head of NBC's investigative unit, is leading the investigation.
