Tesla is serious about developing the car of the future and it is expected to be another bold innovation with more than 150 former Apple employees working to make it happen.

According to Bloomberg, the majority of the carmaker's new hires are from Apple, much more than those that came from competitors. These former Apple employees came from different areas of the company including retail, human resources, law and engineering, to name a few.

One of those who jumped to Tesla was former Apple Vice President of Mac Hardware Engineering Doug Field. He joined the electric carmaker in October 2013 to be its vice president of vehicle programs.

"Until Tesla came along, I had never seriously considered leaving Apple," Field said in a press release.

Field added that he joined Tesla because he wants to "pursue the dream of building the best cars in the world - while being part of one of the most innovative companies in Silicon Valley."

So that was Field's reason for leaving Apple, but how about the rest? Bloomberg sources said that aside from the cars, former Apple employees simply wanted to work with CEO Elon Musk, whose leadership is quite similar to former Apple chief Steve Jobs in terms of temperament and attention to details.

Now that Apple is on the brink of losing some of its best talent, it is not letting Tesla get away with it. Musk said that Apple is also trying to lure some of his employees by offering them a $250,000 signing bonus and 60 percent salary increase.

"Apple tries very hard to recruit from Tesla," he said. "But so far they've actually recruited very few people."
