The 66th annual Sapporo Snow Festival is currently underway in Hokkaido, the northernmost island of Japan. The visitors at this year's festival have been awed by the sight of a giant "Star Wars" snow sculpture, which was officially endorsed by Lucasfilm and its parent company Disney.

This festival showcases impressive snow sculptures of all shapes, sizes and designs. This year, with more than 200 snow sculptures, the week-long festival is expected to draw more than 2.5 million visitors from all around the world, who are sure to appreciate the size, quality and detail of these exquisite sculptures.

According to Yahoo! News, the Sapporo Snow Festival's history and highly regarded reputation allowed for organizers to exhibit the official "Star Wars" sculpture, the first of its kind in the world. With Disney overseeing the design, Lucasfilm, the creators of "Star Wars," gave its blessing to the festival organizers and the11th Brigade of the Ground Self-Defense Force, who spent a month building the 15-meter-high sculpture of Darth Vader, three Stormtroopers, a TIE fighter, Death Star and the iconic Star Wars logo.

The sculpture is part of a promotion for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" which is slated for a December release, and it is definitely one of the main attractions for this year's festival.
