Markos Moulitsas, blogger and founder of Daily Kos, said that he may consider eventually running for Congress. If he were elected he would be the first blogger to hold a seat in Congress.

Moulitsas told the New York Times that if the current California incumbent Democrat Barbara Lee decides to step down he would probably run

However, the prominent blogger isn't hoping for her to step down anytime soon.

"If it's up to me, Lee stays where she is for a long time and I stay where I am for a long time," Moulitsas told The Daily Beast.

Moulitsas served in the U.S. Army from 1989-1992 as a 13P -- Multiple Launch Rocket System Fire Direction Specialist. He has two bachelor degrees at Northern Illinois University, with majors in Philosophy, Journalism and Political Science, with a minor in German, as well as a J.D. at Boston University School of Law.

He later went on to found Daily Kos in 2002, which is a political news website.

While Moulitsas told The Daily Beast he is not counting down the days until Lee steps down, he admitted that he would seriously run if an opportunity presented itself.

"Being a back-bencher representative from the minority party from one of the most liberal districts in the country isn't a particularly high-profile perch from which to effect change," Moulitsas told The Daily Beast.  "But if I were to marry that with my existing platform? That might work, it might not. That's what I'd have to figure out, and I'd certainly give it some thought."

Moulitsas' comments on considering running for Congress are significant because no other professional blogger has ever mulled the idea of running before.
