A woman attempted to board an airplane with a 3-week-old Doberman puppy. When she was refused three times by Nebraska airport personnel, the woman allegedly went into the public restroom and drowned the puppy in the toilet, according to The Smoking Gun.

Florida resident Cynthia Anderson was arrested on Friday at the Central Nebraska Regional Airport in Grand Island and charged with animal cruelty.

Police told The Smoking Gun that the 56-year-old tried to board on Thursday with three uncaged newborn puppies, but was refused. Anderson's parents reportedly took two of the dogs and Anderson went back to the airport on Friday with the intention of concealing the third Doberman puppy in a carry-on bag, according to The Smoking Gun.

Anderson was again refused and police were called after a woman discovered the dead puppy in the restroom.

"On my arrival I learned a three-week-old puppy had been drowned in the toilet after a woman tried three times to get it on the plane," a police officer told The Smoking Gun. "The puppy was taken to the Humane Society and autopsied. It was found to have water in one of its lungs."

Animal cruelty is a felony and Anderson is currently being held in the Hall County jail.
