Baltimore Ravens running back Justin Forsett was one of the few pleasant surprises in what was generally a tumultuous year in the NFL. The Ravens were especially lucky to have him.

Forsett signed for just the veteran's minimum last offseason, but his role in the offense was expanded considerably when it was announced that Ray Rice would be suspended for the season. All Forsett did with the opportunity was rush for the fifth most yards (1,266) in the NFL while finishing the regular season with the top yards per carry average (5.4) among running backs. The journeyman ball carrier also totaled eight rushing touchdowns and hauled in 44 passes for 263 yards.

Now, Forsett is scheduled to hit the open market after the best season of his career. Will Baltimore keep him around?

"I want to have a home and stay there. That's the plan," Forsett said, via USA Today's Tom Pelissero, of returning to the Ravens.

"Pending FA Justin Forsett told me he's heard #Ravens will keep some of the same principles with the run scheme under new OC Marc Trestman," Pelissero tweeted.

Forsett, 29, will join Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray and possibly Seattle Seahawks rusher Marshawn Lynch and Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson in what could be a star-studded RB free agent class.

It remains to be seen what Baltimore's plan is at the running back position this offseason. But considering how well Forsett looked in their offense in 2014, re-signing him seems like the best route to take.
