Apple TV is getting a free update, version 5.3, that will bring some new programming to the video streaming service, according to AppleInsider.com. The update can only be used on second generation and third generation Apple TV devices.

The new update will bring HBO GO and Watch ESPN to Apple TV.

"HBO GO and WatchESPN are some of the most popular iOS apps and are sure to be huge hits on Apple TV," said Apple's Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue. "We continue to offer Apple TV users great new programming options, combined with access to all of the incredible content they can purchase from the iTunes Store."

In addition to video apps from HBO and ESPN, Apple TV is also adding Qello, Crunchyroll and Sky News.

Watch ESPN is an app which gives users the chance to view programming on ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPN U and ESPN 3 among other channels. Viewers can watch shows like E:60, Sports Science, Outstide the Lines and SportsCenter.

HBO GO allows users to watch HBO shows from many mobile devices. The service, which requires an HBO subscription, lets viewers watch HBO hits such as "Game of Thrones" and "True Blood." They also allow access to past shows such as "The Wire."

The Sky News app gives you live news every hour from the United States, the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Crunchyroll is a video service that allows the streaming of a host of current Japanese anime and Asian TV shows.

Qello allows the streaming of music documentaries and concerts. They have a free subscription option as well as a paid subscriptions.
