Many fans are excited Jason Statham is coming to the “Fast and Furious” franchise. He will play Ian Shaw, “Fast and Furious 6” villain Owen Shaw’s brother.

So how does the cast feel about Statham’s arrival?

"I think it's awesome," said Jordana Brewster (Mia in “Fast and Furious 6”) in an interview with E! Online. "I saw him one weekend it opened, we were on the same flight, and he was very sweet, so I'm glad."

Michelle Rodriguez (Letty Ortiz), in an interview with DesdeHollywood, said Statham was the Vin Diesel of London. She also compared him to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

“There’s something that ties these types of fellas together—a Jason Statham, a Dwayne Johnson (Luke Hobbs) and a Vin Diesel (Dominic Toretto)—they’ve got this macho masculine thing going but on top of that they carry an ingtegrity that you can relate to.”

When it comes to Statham joining Johnson and Diesel on the set, Rodriguez believes he’ll be just fine.

“If you saw these guys in a room together you would say they’d get along,” she said.

Jason Statham’s appearance at the end of “Fast and Furious 6” brings the whole franchise full circle. For those of you who remember “Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift” the movie’s setting is years ahead in time compared to the other “Fast and Furious” movies.

At the end of the sixth movie, Han (played by Sung Kang) crashes—just as he did in “Tokyo Drift”—only this time we see the car crash was orchestrated by Jason Statham’s character Ian Shaw. Statham, as Shaw, steps out of the car, takes out his cellphone and issues a challenge to Dominic Toretto which sets up “Fast and Furious 7” and a new trilogy.

According to the International Movie Database, “Fast and Furious 7” will debut July 11, 2014.
