"American Idol" is taking a page from "Dancing with the Stars" and is getting rid of its results show.

Deadline reported that the singing competition series will air one night a week when it returns to FOX in January. While walking the red carpet at the Z100 Jingle Ball in New York on Friday, longtime host Ryan Seacrest revealed that there would be no results shows once the season gets into its top 10.

"We are going to do the performance show and the results in the same show," he said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "So there won't be a 'Wait 'til tomorrow night.' There won't be a 'Coming up, coming up, coming up.' We are going to put it all into one format in one night. So that will be exciting."

He added, "[It will be] one night when we get to the final stage, the top ten, there will be one night of performances and results all in one night."

Seacrest said that other changes to the program includes the judges -- Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr.  -- spending more quality time with the contestants.

"They found some amazing contestants, and they had a chance to get to know them a little bit better," Seacrest said.

Scott Borchetta, who is the founder of Big Machine Records and responsible for discovering Taylor Swift, will be replacing former judge Randy Jackson as a mentor.

The 14th season of "American Idol" will premiere on Wednesday, Jan. 7.
