A Simi Valley elementary school teacher, Malia Brooks, was arrested this week for allegedly having sex with a young student which she pleaded "not guilty" to the crime, according to reports.

The Simi teacher Brooks was arrested by the Simi Valley Police Department on Tuesday evening. Brooks, 32, was a sixth-grade teacher at Garden Grove Elementary School since 2004, according to NBC Los Angeles news. The California-based school ranges from kindergarten through sixth grade.

Only one victim has so far come forward and it's unclear if there are more. The alleged male victim, a 14-year-old boy, was a student at the school, but officials would not say if he was in Brooks' classes.

Police have been investigating the Simi teacher since February this year after the Simi Valley Unified School District made a report regarding her behavior. During the investigation period, Brooks was placed on administrative leave, but resigned from her teaching position last week.

The Simi teacher was charged with one count of a lewd act upon a child, one count of oral copulation of a person under 14, and three counts of genital penetration by a foreign object with a person under 14 years of age when the suspect is more than 10 years older than the victim, the report notes.

The Simi Valley Police Department said in a news release Wednesday that "there were no indications that Malia Brooks had other victims."
