About a month ago, a rumor was reported that David Goyer was developing a "Superman" prequel series called "Krypton." It looks like those rumors were true, and Comic Book Resources has confirmed that the SyFy Channel is developing the show with Goyer.

According to the report, Krypton "takes place years before the Superman legend we know, when the House of El was shamed and ostracized. This drama, which is in development, follows the Man of Steel's grandfather as he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest Super Hero ever known."

"Krypton" is an intriguing concept, and it will be interesting to see how it develops. It certainly has the potential to be an epic show. Ian Goldberg ("Once Upon a Time," "FlashForward") is scripting the pilot and will also executive produce alongside Goyer.

If you can say one thing about DC Entertainment, TV and/or animation is where they really seem to shine, and even surpass, mighty Marvel. Beyond its current slate of excellent projects already on TV or in production, TNT is developing a series called "Titans" which will revolve around a group of superheroes-to-be based on characters from the DC Universe that include: Dick Grayson/Robin/Nightwing, Starfire, Raven and others.

It will be interesting to see how Marvel/Netfilx's lineup of upcoming shows will fare against the already established DC shows. Only time will tell...

Stay tuned for more on "Krypton" as it develops.
