General Mills is capitalizing on '90s nostalgia by resurrecting French Toast Crunch, Grubstreet reported on Monday.

The cereal, made of tiny bread-slice-shaped flakes that taste like syrup, had a relatively short tun on shelves - from 1995 to 2006 - but long enough to cultivate a breakfast food cult following. It's expected to be available everywhere at the end of January 2015.

French Toast Crunch's return comes at the same time as Coca-Cola's relaunch of Surge, a '90s caffeinated soda.

"It's amazing to see how nostalgia for brands from generations past can really take on a life of its own - demonstrating a real desire to have these products back in our lives. We are so excited to give fans a chance to experience the cereal as they did many years ago, and also to introduce it to a new generation of French Toast Crunchers," said Waylon Good, marketing manager for General Mills, The Spread It reported.

Despite a large nostalgic cult following, a Change.org petition that sought 100,000 signatures to bring the syrupy cereal back only garnered five signatures.

Up until the company's announcement, devoted fans were buying Croque Pain Dore on eBay for as much as $24.95 per box, plus an array of shipping costs and customs forms.
