“The Walking Dead” producer Gale Anne Hurd doesn’t believe the AMC series needs a clean ending.

During an interview with IGN (that contains tons of spoilers), Hurd explained the series won’t try to give a “concrete conclusion” as it doesn’t make sense for the show.

"It's a journey, just like the comic book,” he said. "…The comic book is essentially a journey on the road. At times they find a temporary safe harbor, but because it's essentially an ensemble and the dynamics of the group are affected by who's part of it in any particular moment and they do split up from time to time that's how the stories evolve: who they encounter along the way, the choices that they make. But it really is a constantly evolving dynamic."

Hurd also isn’t concerned with the series staying true to the popular comics. "The Walking Dead” production team is more concerned about developing relationships with the characters than the specific details about them from the graphic novels.

"No, I think that each season develops a different dynamic as well. There's so much that's fascinating in the interpersonal relationships in the comic book, that informs the show. And yet we always change it up,” Hurd told IGN.

“The girls of last season were boys in the comic book. Some of the arcs of particular characters, or even their deaths, happened to other characters in the comic book. So it's always going to evolve a little differently because of who the characters are. You can't force them to fit a particular storyline or scene."
