The “X-Men: Apocalypse” production is reportedly looking to cast the younger versions of Jean Grey and Cyclops.

Chloe Grace Moretz, Elle Fanning and Hailee Steinfeld are amongst the actresses in consideration for the Jean Grey role, according to The Wrap. Timothee Chalamet, Ben Hardy and Charlie Rowe are also reportedly up for the role for of Cyclops.

However, an inside source claims the actors have yet to officially test for the roles or read for the parts.

It’s unclear if Jean Grey and Cyclops will play major roles in “Apocalypse,” but Jennifer Lawrence and Michael Fassbender’s characters may be heating things up in the next film.

A source told The Hollywood Reporter Magneto and Mystique’s romantic relationship will grow stronger in “Apocalypse.” The insider claimed the studio wants the attention on Lawrence and Fassbender, two of the biggest stars of the film.

“X-Men: Apocalypse” writer Simon Kinberg also told Collider back in October that Lawrence would be central to the film’s plot. With the events of “X-Men: Days of Future Past” behind them, Kingerg was able to explore Mystique’s relationship with Professor X and Magneto.

“Part of what’s really interesting about Mystique’s character is that she is, in some ways, the child of both Erik and Charles,” Kinberg told Collider. “She grew up with Charles and then she sort of became a woman with Erik, so her being the cross-pollination, if you will, of those two philosophies and those two men is something we can explore in the movie too.”

“X-Men: Apocalypse” is slated to hit theaters on May 18, 2016.
