After months of rumors and conjecture about "Terminator: Genisys" in the past two days, there's been an absolute wealth of official information revealed.

Courtesy of EW, the overall plot for the movie has been revealed, a crop of uninspired promo shots landed and a few scene-specific spoilers have entered the public domain.

All or nothing, right?

Well, despite the fact that the internet has been less than enthused about the materials, we can still harbor a shred of hope that it won't turn out like Terminator Salvation. Once more from the exclusive clutches of EW, we can now reveal a handful of storyboards from the movie. Here they are:

The five images seem to all be set during the Future War. To be honest, that's arguably the least interesting aspect of the franchise but still, it's interesting to get an idea of director Alan Taylor's visual take on the time-traveling series.

The magazine also ran something of an official synopsis:

"The beginning of 'Terminator: Genisys,' the first of three planned films that Paramount hopes will re-launch the beloved sci-fi franchise, is set in 2029, when the Future War is raging and a group of human rebels has the evil artificial-intelligence system Skynet on the ropes. John Connor ('Dawn of the Planet of the Apes'' Jason Clarke) is the leader of the resistance, and Kyle Reese ('Divergent's' Jai Courtney) is his loyal soldier, raised in the ruins of post-apocalyptic California. As in the original film, Connor sends Reese back to 1984 to save Connor's mother, Sarah ('Game of Thrones'' Emilia Clarke), from a Terminator programmed to kill her so that she won't ever give birth to John. But what Reese finds on the other side is nothing like he expected."

I'm a huge fan of the first two "Terminator" films...the last few, not so much, and the prospect of another full-length entry that's based entirely on the Future War doesn't do much for me.

"Terminator: Salvation" had an excellent cast and an interesting script, but it failed to execute when the chips were down. I'm hoping that this preliminary round of images and info will be forgotten when the first trailer arrives.

"Terminator: Genisys" is slated for release on July 1, 2015.
