Actor Jaden Smith may be joining the live-action DC universe as Static Shock.

Flickering Myth reports Warner Bros. announced Academy Award nominated “Django Unchained” producer Reginald Hudlin was tapped to helm live-action Static Shock digital series. The production is allegedly looking to tap Jaden to play the superhero.

For those unfamiliar with the comics, the “Static” series tells a story of a black teenage superhero, alter ego name Virgil Ovid Hawkins, that eventually joins the Teen Titans. He has the ability to create electrical and magnetic energy, harvesting the energy to help fight crime.

Jaden’s mother, Jada Pinkett Smith, is already a member of the DC live-action universe as she plays Fish Mooney of the FOX television series “Gotham.” Jaden’s father Will Smith is also allegedly in talks to join the DC universe.

Deadline reports Smith, Margot Robbie and Tom Hardy are close to signing deals with Warner Bros. production to star as super villains in the live-action “Suicide Squad” film. “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” star Jesse Eisenberg is also allegedly in talks to join the “Suicide Squad” movie as Lex Luthor.

Speaking of “Batman vs. Superman”, producer Charles Roven recently explained to “The Hollywood Masters” series at Loyola Marymount School of Film why Warner Bros. and DC have decided to switch gears and start mashing up universes.

“When we embarked on Man of Steel…one of the things we were doing was we were created a universe that had a superhero in it, because Superman is clearly a superhero, he has superpowers,” Roven said. “So once we did that, it was with the knowledge that, if the movie was successful and we expanded the universe, we were going to expand it and populate it with other, like characters.”

“Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” is slated to hit theaters on March 25, 2016. “Suicide Squad” will also be released some time in 2016.
