Director Christopher Nolan and his screenwriter brother Jonathan Nolan haven’t ruled out the possibility of returning to the DC film universe.

Jonathan spoke to ComingSoon.net about the massive DC film lineup through 2020. Though Jonathan and his brother enjoyed their time working on “The Dark Knight” trilogy, they currently have no plans on directing, producing or writing another DC film.

"I love those guys and my brother was involved in 'Man of Steel' with Zack [Snyder] and David [Goyer]," Jonathan told ComingSoon.net. "I kind of feel like that chapter for us is closed."

However, the brothers wouldn’t rule out the possibility of working with Warner Bros. on its DC franchises.

"To be continued somewhere farther down the line? Maybe," Jonathan teased.

Christopher has worked on the “Man of Steel” film with director Zack Snyder and was also a source of inspiration for the “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” production.

“Batman vs. Superman” screenwriter David S. Goyer spoke to Comic Book Resources back in May about chatting with Christopher about mashing up the DC universes. Goyer and Christopher discussed the best ways to give “Batman vs. Superman” its own identity and keep it away from the “Dark Knight” trilogy.

"Chris Nolan and I absolutely had discussions about that with regards to Superman or Batman and where he exists in the public consciousness and whether or not this was aligned with that or a betrayal of that or not," Goyer explained to CBR. "And sometimes you say, 'Yeah, maybe this is different,' and you go for it. And sometimes you're celebrated for it and sometimes you're not."

“Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” will be released to theaters on March 25, 2016.
