Apple is failing to keep up with the growing demand for its pricey high-end 5K Retina iMac with shipping time-frame extended thrice since launch.

If patience is not one of your best suits, ordering the all-new 27-inch 5K Retina iMac will only bring disappointment. For the third time since the product's release on Oct. 16, Apple has extended the shipping times from one-to-two business days to seven-to-ten business days. By the looks of it, the demand for the high-end all-in-one PC has exceeded Apple's expectations, which has resulted in an imbalance between supply and demand.

Apple's hefty price tag of $2,499 isn't keeping consumers from placing their orders for the latest iMac. With its high-end specs primarily released to cater to the needs of creative professionals, such as graphic designers, the 5K Retina iMac has attracted a large chunk of audience. After all, some of the specs in the machine are a complete breakthrough, like its highly-advanced 5K monitor with a screen resolution of 5120x2880 or 14.7 million pixels. The display is said to carry seven times more pixels than a standard Full HD TV and 67 percent better than a 4K screen.

The new iMac has more than just a great screen. It boasts a powerful 3.5 GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost speed of up to 3.9 GHz, AMD Radeon R9 M290X graphics, 8GB RAM and 1TB Fusion Drive storage.

When the 27-inch machine hit the stores last Thursday, Apple estimated the shipping time was 1-2 business days. The next day, delay between ordering and shipping the new iMac was showing 3-5 business days. Earlier this week, the shipping period jumped to 5-7 working days in a second increase in shipping times in just one week, Computer World reported.

The current shipping status for the iMac shows 7-10 business days, suggesting continued supply issues amid growing demand for the machine.

The widespread of the demand for the latest iMac is also found in retail stores. A notable percentage of Apple stores in the United States reported the PC was not in stock but one can find the iMac in outlets in Portland, Oregon, etc.
