A Washington man who got in a fight with his wife thought it would be a smart move to send his computer to get its memory wiped out so she wouldn't discover the child pornography he produced tucked away on his device.

There was one tiny flaw in his plan - child pornography is a federal crime, and James Rivers wasn't expecting the computer technician to go through his pictures that he demanded not to be looked at "under any circumstances," reports Seattle Post Intelligencer

The computer technician ignored Rivers' requests and immediately found two "questionable" videos of a young girl in a bath, which he reported to the FBI, reports Seattle PI.

One video was taken on a cellphone hidden in a shoebox of a young girl getting into a shower, positioned to capture her genital and chest areas. The other - which was 14-minutes-long - was of a young girl taking a bath, according to court documents.

The FBI contacted Kent police on Oct. 8 and by Oct. 9 they had a search warrant to check out Rivers' house.

According to police, Rivers admitted to making the child pornography and sexually assaulting a child.

Court papers say Rivers' wife told investigators she had a "gut feeling that something was not right" when she got into the fight with her husband.

Rivers' was arrested on Oct. 9, but was released after posting bond on $300,000 bail.
