A woman who was stuck in the chimney of a house that was not hers was rescued by Southern California firefighters and then arrested by police, according to the Ventura County Star.

Around 5:45 a.m., neighbors of the Southern California home began to hear loud crying and called the authorities, the Star reported.

Genoveva Nunez-Figueroa, 30, was stuck in the chimney. She said she knew the homeowners, but they were not home at the time of the incident, according to the Star.

Ventura County fire Capt. Ron Oatman says firefighters responded to neighbors' reports of a woman crying, but had to chisel away much of the chimney and lubricate it with dish soap Sunday to free Nunez-Figueroa, the Star reported. The fire captain was not sure how much money it would cost to repair the damage to the home.

"We destroyed the chimney and probably did some damage to the roof," Oatman said, according to the Star. Officers requested the Ventura County Fire Department about 6 a.m. and fire crews chiseled the bricks of the chimney to try to get the woman out unharmed.

Nunez-Figueroa was arrested on suspicion of illegal entry and giving false information to police, the Star reported. She had no clear injuries but was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
