"Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Phaedra Parks is throwing in the towel on her marriage. The Bravo beauty has filed for divorce from Apollo Nida, who checked into a Kentucky prison last month to begin his eight-year sentence for bank fraud.

Her rep told E! News in a statement that Parks "has retained an attorney with the intent of amicably ending her marriage."

This is the second time Nida had to serve a long-term prison sentence. He was jailed for six years, from 2003 to 2009, for car theft charges. Nida and Parks have two young children together, Dylan and Ayden.

The couple's split shouldn't come as a surprise because Nida previously told an Atlanta radio station that he didn't think his marriage was going to survive his jail stint.

"I mean, my wife didn't even f***king show up for my sentencing," he said. "So I'm kind of salty about that."

The two also got into an explosive argument, which was captured for the Bravo show, when Parks refused to put money into Nida's prison account. Radar Online had also reported last month that Parks had no plans to wait for Nida's release.

"There was no way Phaedra was going to put her life on hold for the next decade, awaiting Apollo to be released," a source said. "The marriage was a huge mistake, but did give her their beloved kids. There were serious trust issues with Apollo, and Phaedra suspects he has been unfaithful, and has been burning through money."

"Phaedra has always been the breadwinner, and she began to resent it," the source added.

The reality star has not publicly addressed Nida's legal trouble, but will reportedly do a sit-down interview with Ellen DeGeneres for "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." Parks' rep told Reality Tea that the episode will air on Oct. 15.
