Sony  announced the launch of its flagship smartphone, Xperia Z3, on Verizon's network on Oct. 23.

Sony, one of the largest electronics company, has learned from its prior mistakes. After missing out on the U.S. smartphone market for its two former flagship smartphones, the Japanese multinational conglomerate announced Thursday that it is bringing its latest 2014 flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z3, to the U.S. starting this month.

The Xperia Z3 will be available first on Verizon's network starting October 23, 2014, confirmed the largest wireless carrier via an official press release,Thursday. Sony has kept the release date around Apple's last month launch of its new iPhone and Samsung's Galaxy Note 4, which will be unveiled on Oct. 17. This shows Sony's motivation toward expanding its tiny market share by launching a product early.

Sony missed out on the sales of Z1 smartphone in the U.S. due to a delayed release. The company did not find a wireless carrier for its former flagship Z2 smartphone, hence remained isolated in the vast U.S. market. Sony is not repeating the error, as it will follow the Verizon launch of Z3 by releasing the smartphone on T-Mobile's network. A release date hasn't been finalized by T-Mobile, but it is likely to be announced soon considering the urgency.

The Verizon version of the Z3 smartphone, which is being called as Z3v, will feature slight improvements compared to the original version available via other carriers. Sony is adding support for wireless charging with an optional accessory. Core features of the smartphone remain unchanged, which include a 2.5GHz quad-core processor, PS4 Remote Play, 20.7 megapixel camera and a 5.2-inch Full HD display among others.

The Xperia Z3v will also be able to take advantage of Verizon's XLTE bandwidth. Eligible customers can upgrade to the new smartphone through Verizon Edge or purchase the handset for $199.99 with a two year contract.
