HTC's  popular collaborative video-editing app, Zoe, is now available on Android's platform after a two-month test run.

HTC, the renowned smartphone tech company, had an eventful Wednesday with its widely-teased Double Exposure event, where it unveiled the HTC Desire Eye smartphone and a tiny RE action camera. The occasion was used to announce Zoe, the  collaborative video-editing app,  which will be available on Android smartphones after two months of beta testing. HTc promised to bring the app to Apple iOS platform later this year.

The availability of Zoe for non-HTC devices follows the app's beta version that was released in August, but only for devices running Android 4.4 and above. The company chose to test the app's capabilities on non-HTC devices by limiting the use to only 25 percent of all Android smartphones. Now, the updated Zoe version 1.0 is available for select devices running Android 4.3 and above.

Zoe is the brainchild of the team behind HTC Creative Labs, which is also responsible for the company's Sense 6 UI, Blinkfeed and more. The app allows users to create a video and take images simultaneously. It also allows users to edit videos, add custom soundtracks and share it with others  in the Zoe community.

"With Zoe 1.0, we bring flexibility to the community, enabling short, medium and long Zoes that can be made up of just a couple of still images, or an entire series of video clips, with its new content engine (coming later this year), making it easy to present small numbers of clips or even individual images in an interesting, visually stunning way," HTC said in the company's official blog post, Wednesday.

In just a day since the app was made available on Google Play Store, Zoe app has made quite an impact. The app has been downloaded more than 5 million times and is available for free on Google Play Store.
