“Hunger Games” actress Jena Malone has caused “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” rumors to run wild, again.

Malone shared an image of her freshly dyed red hair with her Instagram followers, who quickly began to speculate about her possible casting as Harley Quinn or Robin in “Batman vs. Superman.”

The speculation stemmed from Ben Affleck’s recent comments to MTV News about the production. Affleck admitted director Zack Snyder’s vision for “Batman vs. Superman” was heavily influenced by “The Dark Knight Returns”.

“I will say that I think Zack was heavily influenced by that ['Dark Knight Returns'],” Affleck told MTV. “I think everyone’s heavily influenced by that. It’s the seminal work, right?

“I don’t think there’s any of these [Batman movies] that have been made without drawing from that book because it’s so good. And I think if you’re smart, you steal from the best.”

In the “The Dark Knight Returns”, Carrie Kelley is the new female Robin in the comic series. However, red hair is also consistent with Barbara Gordon, whose alias are Batgirl and Oracle.

Malone was originally linked to the “Batman vs. Superman” production when she visited Snyder on the Detroit, Mich. set. Malone denied any connection to the film, but the “Batman vs. Superman” is still in production.

“Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” is scheduled to hit theaters on March 25, 2016. What do you think about the wild speculation about Malone’s potential casting? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
