Liam Neeson’s “Taken 3” character is being framed for the murder of his ex-wife, played by Famke Janssen, in the first teaser for the film.

Neeson reprises his role as ex-covert operative Bryan Mills in the third “Taken” installment. This time around, Mills is caught up in a relentless pursuit by authorities while he’s hunting the release killers.

“For one last time, Mills must use his ‘particular set of skills,’ to track down the real killers, exact his unique brand of justice, and protect the only thing that matters to him now – his daughter,” according to the official synopsis.

Neeson recently spoke to USA Today about the upcoming “Taken” installment, which is slated to hit theaters on Jan. 9, 2015. The actor confirmed it would be his final “Taken” movie despite the franchise’s popularity.

"I have to go on the run, I'll put it that way, from the not-so-lawful types and the lawful authorities," Neeson said. "Bryan Mills served his country faithfully, but now even they are after him. They must not like me."

Neeson added later, "This time, no more traveling. If my daughter was 'taken' again on a trip, Bryan Mills would have to be certifiably locked up for bad parenting."

Actor Forest Whitaker also stars in the final “Taken” installment as a law enforcement agent hunting for Mills. Whitaker explained to USA Today why people were so drawn to Neeson’s “Taken” character.

"People are attracted to quiet heroes," Whitaker said. "Liam's presence has that. He gives people a sense of comfort and security. And he's an excellent actor.”
