Samsung announced Wednesday that its Tizen-based high-end Gear S smartwatch will be available on all major wireless carriers in the U.S. starting this fall.

Samsung, the leader in smartphones and wearables, has an update on its Gear S smartwatch availability. In a brief press note Wednesday, the Korean tech giant said the Tizen-based smartwatch will be available on all major wireless networks starting this fall. The pricing and exact release date for the smartwatch was not disclosed but the company has promised to share more information soon.

"The Gear S will come to the U.S. this fall and will be available through AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless. More information to come soon!," Samsung's official note read.

All carriers have shared individual updates on the coveted smartwatch's availability. It looks like AT&T is taking the lead in bringing the device to all of its retail stores across the U.S. starting Sept. 26, the carrier announced. The Gear S will not be available for sale by  AT&T on Friday, as for it will only be available for a preview. T-Mobile responded to Android Central's email saying that the Gear S will be available through Equipment Installment Plan, EIP, with more details to come in October.

Samsung unveiled the Gear S smartwatch during the IFA 2014 in Berlin. This is the first smartwatch by a major brand that is capable of making calls and displaying notifications without being paired to a smartphone. Featuring a curved 2-inch AMOLED display, the smartwatch supports 2G, 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth features. It is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage and Samsung's home-grown Tizen OS, which will sport over 1,000 apps at launch.

The Gear S also features an integrated heart rate monitor and pedometer to measure wearer's daily activities and display the results using Samsung's own S Health app. Samsung also partnered with Nokia and Nike for its new smartwatch to bring the HERE Maps for navigation and Nike+ app to help monitor daily runs.

The smartwatch packs a microphone and speaker for calls and voice commands while the 300mAh battery will keep the device running for up to two days. The competition is intense in the wearables space and Apple recently jumped on to the bandwagon with its coveted Apple Watch. Other options available for shoppers include the stylish Moto 360 and LG G Watch R among others.

Reports indicate the pricing of the Gear S to be somewhere close to $443 in the U.S. based on the pricing of the watch in Australia.
